If anyone else has thoughts on all this, or has heard from the other state agencies, feel free to chime in!

00:36:20
Irene Vargas:
Will this include the vegetable sub groups? Are these part of the extended waiver?

00:36:58
Rebecca Ward:
You may talk about this later in the call, but would you please address Triannual Wellness ? I am completely in the dark

00:37:08
Melinda Nguyen:
@Irene - I don't believe so- the waivers are saying all other meal patterns in effect

00:37:27

Paloma Perez Bertrand I LunchAssist:
Here is the link https://www.lunchassist.org/blog?tag=wellness+policy

00:39:16
Laurel Goins:
This is great policy! I cant wait to have it voted in!

00:39:25
Parisa Mohammad:
I'm also curious if everyone else will be following vegetable subgroups and providing 3/4 C of vegetable for curbside meals. We used the waiver to serve 0.5 Cup since so many items are IW.

00:39:31
Susan Dalandan:
Regarding CACFP, the American Rescue Plan Act will provide additional reimbursement for young adults up to age 25 residing in Emergency Shelters. USDA has not issued guidance to states yet.

00:40:21
kari johnson:
Does SB 364 also address summer meal needs?

Great job Stephanie and Jennifer!!

Ana Grajeda:
Go Girls

00:42:51
Stephanie Bruce:
Thank you!!

00:43:20
Abby Halperin | Center for Ecoliteracy:
@Kari, great question! Summer meals are already free for all through SFSP and SSO, but there have been some early discussions about bolstering this program.

00:44:45
Susan Dalandan:
@Kari, our state agency in PA said that USDA has approved Summer EBT for summer 2021, but it is up to the states to decide if they will participate. In PA, they have not made a decision, but they are leaning towards participating.

00:45:13
Patricia Baugus:
With the provision to employ SSO through June 2022 - any reason/benefit you see for districts to apply for CEP?

00:45:44
DEBBIE AUSTIN:
Can we go back to salad bars in cafeterias?

00:45:46
Julie Clark:
Will self serve salad bars be able to return next school year?

00:45:48
Lisa Buskirk:
GREAT question Patricia, I would also like to know

00:46:04
Susan Dalandan:
@Patricia, FRAC recommends applying for CEP because you will be locking in current conditions.

00:46:30
Stephanie Bruce:
Hi Debbie...I am going back to salad bars as soon as my parents and teachers are comfortable with the idea.  USDA and FDA have said that the virus is not spread through food

00:46:37
KRisten TEkell:
Can we get the links to the CDC updates and guides?

00:46:40
Abby Halperin | Center for Ecoliteracy:
@Patrica and @Lisa — one thing that I’ve heard is that community need (and therefore your ISPs) are quite high right now, so you can lock in a higher reimbursement rate for the next four years if you apply for CEP now

00:46:44
kari johnson:
@Abby, thanks for the response.  I will be in touch via email. :)

00:47:13
Jennifer Gonzales:
Please clarify CACFP for 21-22 SY - snack and supper can be served free at any site regardless of free/reduce %  Thank you!

00:47:18
Patricia Baugus:
Makes sense.  thank you!

00:47:18
Leah Underwood:
Please provide links to the two guides you just mentioned

00:47:49
Chef B. Orcutt USD:
Can you post a link for the guides that Brianna is discussing?

00:48:11
Susan Dalandan:
FRAC has webinars on their website regarding the importance of applying for CEP and how to utilize best if you have lower ISP rates. Food Research and Action Center, frac.org

Debbi Dodson, Carton Council:
Is anyone re-establishing their cafeteria recycling programs now that students are returning?

00:49:05
Hallie Ingram:
Can masked students come through the cafeteria briefly to get their lunch served on a tray or do we need to continue serving everything packaged to go outside?

00:49:46
Mickinzie Lopez | LunchAssist:
Hallie - students should be able to come thru the cafeteria, as long as some safety guidelines can remain in place (i.e. masks, 3’ distancing, etc.)

00:50:02
Irene Vargas:
@Debbie, Yes, but no share racks or tables...yet!

00:50:16
Neha Cramer:
That's correct, Mickinzie!

00:50:30
Eric Enciso:
Thank you CDC for the guidance and for being here

00:50:33
Carolyn Vega:
@Jennifer -- re: CACFP area eligibility for SY21-22, correct, the nationwide waiver eliminates the area eligibility requirement for next year, so you can serve at any site. But as always, check with your state agency!

Paloma Perez Bertrand I LunchAssist:
@AgnesLally, in Caifornia, from the last TownHall meeting - CDE isn’t sure how this will look and is awaiting guidance. Our guess is it will be the same-same as what is listed in the Jan 5 Q&A where USDA strongly urged schools to continue collecting applications if needed.

01:01:53
Ana Grajeda:
Thank you All for such a wonderful resources

01:02:09
Nicole Fous:
Once I am finally approved for our own program here at my school do I have the option to only serve our kids on campus or do I automatically have to serve 0-18 no matter what school they attend? We will be a first time School Nutrition Program starting next school year.

01:02:18
Dr. Robert Lewis:
Yeah, Donna Martin!

01:02:24
Brianna Dumas:
Donna Martin taught me everything I know! Yay Donna!

01:03:40
Mickinzie Lopez | LunchAssist:
@Nicole - if you would like to serve only enrolled students, you will just need to apply to operate a “closed, enrolled SSO site”

01:03:46
Carolyn Vega:
@Nicole, I listened to a USDA webinar and they said that schools can do SSO as closed enrolled sites that only serve their own students (but you can also serve all kids as an open site if you want).

01:05:08
Nicole Fous:
@Carolyn, thank you. Thats what I thought too . Its a little overwhelming as a first timer!

Donna Martin:
We surveyed our parents so see what cooking utensils and equipment they had and they had everything they would need to cook with our boxes.  I was totally shocked how equipped their kitchens were.  I was afraid that would be a problem, but no one has complained.  They have even come back and told me the new recipes they have made with the ingredients in the box.  For example, one family made cream of broccoli soup with the milk, cheese, broccoli and mushrooms we had in the box.

Brianna was the first Farm to School Dietitian I ever hired and she set an example that has inspired our program for years.  Brianna rocks everything she does.
